It’s time to ensure the wealthiest Vermonters pay their fair share in taxes.

For far too long, the wealthiest Vermonters have not paid their fair share in taxes, leading to a lack of state revenue and an unfair tax system. Low– and middle–income Vermonters are bearing a disproportionate share of the costs to pave our roads, clean our water, run and maintain our public schools, and every other government expense.

It’s time to raise taxes on Vermont’s wealthiest residents so that we can increase state tax revenue to build a Vermont that works for all of us.

The Fair Share for Vermont Campaign is asking the Legislature to raise taxes on Vermont’s wealthy because:

  • Vermont has clear need for increased state revenue

  • Ensuring that the wealthiest Vermont taxpayers pay their fair share is crucial to fund public investments that will make the state better for everyone

  • Vermont’s current tax structure places a disproportionate burden on low- and middle-income taxpayers, and perpetuates wealth consolidation at the top

Vermont needs a fair tax system and increased state revenue. By increasing revenue, we will have the resources for initiatives such as building and maintaining our public infrastructure, funding public schools where our students can thrive, supporting Vermont families, increasing access to health care and housing, and protecting our environment.

If you agree with us that it is essential for Vermont’s wealthiest to pay their fair share, please sign this petition.

By signing, you indicate that you are a concerned Vermonter who believes that it is time for the state’s wealthiest to pay their fair share, and endorse the campaign’s efforts to raise taxes on those most able to pay. By asking our state’s wealthiest to pay their fair share, we can build and maintain a Vermont that works for all of us –including Vermont’s wealthiest. You are also joining our call to the General Assembly to increase taxes on Vermont taxpayers making more than $500,000 a year.
